Title: Co-owner, Artist, Piercer
Lela learned the art of tattooing from York Fredrickson, her uncle. She is skilled in the areas of fine-line tattooing, custom design, and realistic black and grey work.
"I enjoy doing a variety of styles. Lately, I have been doing some larger pieces which is always fun. My favorite subjectmatter includes animals, pin-up girls, and fantasy art.
It really means a lot to me that I am able to carry on the art and memory of my uncle. It's all part of keeping my word. He agreed to teach me his art in exchange for my promise to keep his shop open when he retired. Unfortunately, his sudden death made it impossible to maintain the same location, but I intend to maintain the same atmosphere and values."
Tattooing philosophy: Take your time, a tattoo is not just job or a mark. A tattoo becomes a part of a person, an outside view of their inner personality. It deserves all of your attention whether it is a 1 inch rose, or a full backpiece. Take pride in your work, and respect your client.
On competition: Competition is healthy. I prefer to let my work speak for itself. Each artist brings their own unique perspective and talents to the field. Bad-mouthing another artist is just a sign of insecurity. If you have talent, use it. If you don't, find another job.
